Roel de Hoop has been working at NS Stations for over 12.5 years. In the past ten years, there has been a greater focus on logistical improvements. When NS Stations started optimizing their logistical processes, a thorough evaluation of existing methods and resources was essential. “We considered all aspects, as it is hard work and the carts we use to serve our customers at the stations can weigh up to 500 kilos,” explains Roel. Safety for travelers, as well as ergonomics and efficiency for the staff, were very important considerations.

After this evaluation, it became clear that a better approach was needed for supplying stores at the stations. From Challenge to Solution
The biggest challenge for NS Stations was to move (refrigerated) goods safely and efficiently through busy passenger flows while keeping the goods in optimal condition. The choice for Movexx was based on several factors, including ergonomics and efficiency. “The ergonomic well-being of the staff is very important to us and the Movexx machines greatly help with this. Additionally, it is crucial that these machines are also suitable for an area continuously used by travelers.” Movexx Smart Electrical Tugs are now used at various stations. At smaller stations, we use the TT1000-T, suitable for smaller spaces and platforms, while larger stations like Utrecht Central and Amsterdam Central use the RR3500-S. For example, at Utrecht Central, two units of the RR3500-S and an average of six units of the TT1000-T are in operation.

The staff responds very positively to working with the Movexx Smart Electrical Tugs. “We see less absenteeism and the availability of staff throughout the day has improved,” says Roel. The new tools also result in fewer damages and personal accidents in station areas, which naturally greatly contributes to overall safety.
